My mother trained and worked at St.Paul's and the latest news about its impending demolition saddens me !! I collected the series of articles couple years ago in The Province and have several photos of her back in the 1930's. Love your site as I was born and raised in Vancouver and very nostalgic to see the buildings which have "vanished". My own house which I had thought demolished was in fact moved from Marpole to Gulf Islands in late 1960's.

The Glencoe was actually run by the two Mollison sisters who both previously ran the Lake Louise Hotel . My grandmother, Agnes strain was a maid and my mother worked there as well during the '30's and all the staff were treated as extended family. I heard nothing but praise of how the hotel was run all the time growing up.
