I just finished “The Curve of Time”. Impressed and in awe of this woman who deserves a documentary to be made about her amazing life. Love the way she writes and manages to keep her audience engaged throughout. Her writing style is fascinating and gently draws the attention of the reader into situations that provoke amusement, wonder and sometimes sadness and fear… all emotions are dealt with in a most practical and rational way by this amazing lady. Her skills as a navigator and seafaring mother of 5 with her practical intelligence and ability to adapt are nevertheless outweighed by her skills a writer. Love this book.

I just finished reading “The Curve of Time” what a remarkable women. Some intriguing adventures and definitely an exciting way to grow up. She portrayed a level of stoicism during their trials that is critical of anyone in her role whether it’s the captain of a navy vessel or a mother of 5 children on a small vessel in the middle of nowhere. They always seemed to get through those things and get back to the lighter side of exploring was they made land where ever that was. It’s character like hers that is fading fast sadly but her story is well worth the read. It’s nice to that their property is still around and hasn’t been lost to time

“....died so young...”. I think she did very well to cram all that living in her 71 years. That wasn’t ‘so young’ back in those days!

I discovered Capi's writing a few years ago and have been re-reading "The Curve of Time". The amazing sense of presence she brings to her writing and the way it draws you in to events long past as if they were happening right at this moment is extraordinary. What a pity she died so young, she really had so much of value to share, but I am delighted to have read what she left us.

Hello Lisa! What a beautiful tribute to an outstanding woman. I wanted to share that I have just completed a screenplay based on The Curve of Time (for which I bought the rights in July 2015). I'm in the early stages of script/film development and hope to be able to share Cali's story with the world, very soon. In honour of our wonderful country's 150th, I can think of no better way than to honour the memory of this amazing pioneer. I'm very happy to read she's still alive in Victoria. All my best, Lisa

This is awesome, thanks for posting, I will now go to the Sidney library and see if I can get her book for my vacation read. Love all things historical, especially relative to where I live.
Thanks, Kevin McTavish

Oh my. Capi is my mentor. I never tire of reading her stories. I have a book coming out in October. I hope I have been able to follow her soft lovely way of words. The Klee Wyck Journal is about a wilderness beach and cabin reached only by kayak, the cabin built by family and friends over vacation weeks each summer for about 15 years. I kept an illustrated journal. Capi and Emily Carr are always near at my side. Have a look. www.loumckee.com Thanks for this little writing box, Eve!
