I remember watching the demolition (implosion) of the Georgia Medical Dental building on TV. I was 11 years old. Thankfully, to soothe that pain (from when I was a kid), I worked at the Marine Building on the 11th floor, for a commercial real estate appraiser for about a year. Have you read about the penthouse suite at the Marine building? The elevators only goes up to a few floors below the penthouse. Of course one day I tool the elevator to the top, then hiked the stairs as far as I could go... hoping I could get access to the penthouse but of course I could not. Would LOVE to see it some time! https://montecristomagazine.com/community/secrets-marine-building

Hi Eve. Ian Alexander here. Vie Moore was my paternal grandmother and was a fixture on the DTES before it was called that. Her restaurant, Vie's, was an icon in the area for many years. I've found a couple of photos of it during the time the 'new' viaducts were being built. It sat at 209 Union St. where the Jimi Hendrix House (originally the storage for the restaurant) now sits. You can get hold of me at thebudgetchef.ca@gmail.com

As with any list some of us will wonder why some did not make the list. Truthfully we have demolished so much or the lower mainlands history that the list would likely be in the hundreds if not thousands.
Switzer house, Modern Living building and many others on the PNE grounds. Schools. Theaters all over the city.
The West End has lost so many fantastic old buildings that to list them would be difficult.
Many thanks to Mr. Biesinger for documenting as many as he has. Also thanks to those that fight to preserve what we still have. The pressure to develop instead of preserve is great and likely will only get worse.
