I’m guessing the plan was to purchase properties as they came up for sale? Interesting that the city spent years buying back beachfront along English Bay but the current administration thought a restaurant would be a good idea now.

As kids we’d visit the monkey then head down to the beach with our dog for a swim. It was a beautiful road with gorgeous homes facing the water. What a shame the chip-flip mentality has taken hold of Vancouver. Remember also there’s a municipal election in the not too distant future.

This is true Doug……There is an unfortunate precedent:……Malibu, in California has a similar strip of road, on the beachfront, owned by ” A” list film people.

The one small piece of the puzzle you touched on that I find very offensive is the closure of a public road. I still wonder why the people and business owners silently stood by while this enclave was created for the good of a few wealthy home owners. Disgusting.
