it was. i worked on the film at that location, setting lights on the second floor ‘balcony’. nothing special, i’m sorry to say. my first recollection is that i was happy to not be working outside! my second is that a friend of mine, from years earlier, had the gig as Steve Martin’s stand-in. he had also been Warren Beatty’s stand-in on McCabe and Mrs Miller. his greatest claim is to have been the Man From Glad, in the TV commercials.

Who are you even referring to with this comment? The decline of nightclub establishments in Vancouver (and a lot of Canada, really), has been going on much longer than the last 5 years or so that you seem to be referring to.

In order for large, sometimes more alternative venues (ie: Luv-A-Fair) to survive, it needs the city to support it. In Vancouver, the land just gets sold to become another cookie cutter condo development with usage restrictions and rental rates that could never support establishments like these. It’s not people playing Pokemon or taking influencer photos who are the key cause of this.
