Larry Hogue was my best friend in the late 1950’s when he lived in New Westminster just up the street from me. I of course knew about his death but this is the first time I’ve seen this much of the story. It’s bringing back memories. I do remember how they seemed to be a very close knit loving family.

She lost everything. My dad died a violent death and they scooped all her children and I didn't know about the class action suit going on, I missed out

Dan you probably worked there with my sister Sharon (she was a part time/casual bus girl during 73-75) however her name at work was “Rags” as per the Iaci’s everyone had a nickname hahah! Our family used to live a couple houses away for a few years during the 60’s . We used to go back and visit Eva and family often 😊

Back in 1988 I had a scary experience in PG. I was with group of students and wound up talking with this young man – he had dark brown hair kind of in between curly and wavey shoulder length. He was super quick witted and it was like we just burst out laughing while talking. When I left to use bathroom and returned the group I was with had left. He said he told them he would help me get home no worries. I wasn’t worried we talked another half hour and with my group gone I started to feel uneasy. He went to the washroom and I didn’t hesitate I left my car was outside – I don’t think he thought that I drove there I think he believed I would need a drive. I didn’t drink much I was a poor student at the time – am very glad I was. Normal build not average height maybe 5’9”. I never forgot that cause his eyes once the group left looked less humourous and intense like birds of prey. He looked so calm but he would grit his teeth or clench his jaw and I could see that tension cord look between his jaw and cheek.

I lived at 4th and Vine 70s i to early 80s…late 60s too
my highest rent…for kitchen/dining area , bathroom, larger livingroom and two bedrooms was $120.00 a month!

My friend and I years ago about 9 or 10 years ago went to the house at about 830pm or later and we do exploring anyways I took a picture of the inside of the house through the front porch window and nobody was at the house it was closed and we didn’t see any ghosts but I felt a presence. Then 2 weeks later I was looking through my pictures and came across the porch window pictures that I took of the inside if the front door window and I saw a woman in the picture clear as day. Nobody was at the house at the time the museum was closed it was late at night at the time I didn’t see anything in the windows or anything but in the pictures I saw a ghost of a women I still have the pictures as I got them developed.

I believe my great aunt and uncle, Ernie and Eleanor Deacon, owned this motel in the 50s and early 60s. I have memories of visiting thereafter a little child and loving the cottages, and the pony in the pasture next door.

Hopped on a freight train in Burnaby, in 2016, that was headed West. next thing I knew it was dark and I was in the tunnel. Didn’t take long before there was no more oxygen, and if it wasn’t for my rolled up sleeping mat, clothes, backpack, I would be dead very likely. It took a long time before I saw light again. Going over the Burrard Inlet. That was insane. But was luckily able to suck any leftover oxygen that had been absorbed into said items and get just enough to not feel like I was about to die.

I cannot believe that this shy 12 year old girl had consensual sex with a 17 year old boy, when she wouldn’t even stay the night at her grandmother’s house. Give me a break. I do believe they or he raped her. However, I also cannot believe these boys were capable of disposing of her body to the point of never being found. I do think it’s possible that she ran off and was picked up by someone, but being that this area was barely populated, what are the odds that a stranger would be driving through there? I do not believe her father was involved. Makes zero sense. I definitely see why this has divided that community. Someone there knows something. Either she never left for the hike and something happened at Connie and Vivian’s house or she did go on the hike and was assaulted by the 17 year old and she ran off. Either way, the fact that none of those who were with her and polygraped ever spoke a word is telling! Usually, someone would say something incriminating at some point. It’s a very odd story.

In reply to Lori Stromquist. The restaurant was called Erling's Bodega. I worked there in 1973 as bus girl and room service. I was in grade 11 and had 4 evening shifts a week. I earned union wages and was rolling in the dough back then! My grades at school weren't that good though. LOL!

I also heard it was Clifford Olsen . He worked construction in Powell River and travelled back and forth on that highway. Apparently another young girl did appeared while hitchhiking on the peninsula . Around that same period of time.
