I recall the Kerrisdale Mkt. as well. I was a taxi driver up to about 20 years ago and got to know the city well. I was keenly interested in the many corner groceries which had their names (usually in the same plain font) flanked by the large, red Coca Cola buttons on either side.
I noted with interest that the buttons disappeared from the Kerrisdale Grocery about a week before the place burned. Coincidence?
Those buttons, highly sought after by collectors, and selling decades ago for at least $1K each, were secured by a couple of bolts and easily removed. I suspect most of them were stolen as their value rose…

Eve……I vividly remember the Kerrisdale Market and Magee Meat market,from my childhood………My grandparents lived two blocks south of there at 51 st and Cypress st……Michael Kluckner captured the structure. perfectly, in his painting!
