I recall the Kerrisdale Mkt. as well. I was a taxi driver up to about 20 years ago and got to know the city well. I was keenly interested in the many corner groceries which had their names (usually in the same plain font) flanked by the large, red Coca Cola buttons on either side. 
I noted with interest that the buttons disappeared from the Kerrisdale Grocery about a week before the place burned. Coincidence? 
Those buttons, highly sought after by collectors, and selling decades ago for at least $1K each, were secured by a couple of bolts and easily removed. I suspect most of them were stolen as their value rose...]]></description>
