Join us for an evening with Eve Lazarus, author and true crime podcast host (Cold Case Canada) as she gives a talk, a reading, a Q&A and a book signing for her new book, Beneath Dark Waters: The Legacy of the Empress of Ireland Shipwreck.

On May 29, 1914, the Empress of Ireland was enroute from Quebec City to Liverpool when she was struck by a Norwegian coal ship after fog descended on the St. Lawrence River. The CPR liner sank in just 14 minutes. Over a thousand people died that night, claiming the lives of four more passengers than the Titanic, including a young woman and a girl from North Vancouver. The tragedy stands as the worst peacetime maritime disaster in Canadian history. Beneath Dark Waters follows the lives of the Canadian survivors.
